How It Happened
The Warriors challenged early, with shots by Ashley Romanowski and Rachel Curtis, but the Valkyries defense and Darian Bankston kept Southern Wesleyan off the board. Despite more shots by the Warriors, Converse quickly gained control of the game, netting three goals back-to-back to take a 3-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan. Back-to-back shots on goal by Ashley Romanowski were thwarted. The Valkyries scored their fourth goal of the afternoon right before half.
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the second half strong as Bryanna Pickens, Heily Hernandez and Mallory Butler all attacked the net. However, each attempt was scooped up by Bankston to keep the Warriors from countering their 4-0 lead. The Warriors would not let up, with both Ashley Romanowski and Joy Namyst taking shots on the goal. Despite the late rally by the Warriors, they were unable to cut away from the Valkyries lead.
Southern Wesleyan will close out their home schedule on October 22 as they welcome the King Tornado to Childs Field at 5 p.m. They will then travel to Limestone on October 26 and Erskine on October 30 before closing out the season at North Greenville on November 1.
