Mount Olive, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals to the University of Mount Olive Trojans in a 24-0 final on Monday afternoon.
Southern Wesleyan posted four shots and two shots on goal in the loss to Mount Olive. Amy Pfefferkorn led the team with two shots and one shot on goal. Pfefferkorn was followed by Tabitha Beecher with one shot on goal. Southern Wesleyan posted 14 ground balls. Beecher and Jairy Sandoval led the team with three apiece. Sandoval went on to lead the team with six of the 10 draw controls. Latia Santos followed Sandoval with three draws. The Warriors caused three turnovers. Kaeleigh McDaniel recorded 17 saves during the game.

How It Happened
The University of Mount Olive took the lead early as Skylar Grady scored to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. They extended their lead to 3-0 seconds later with just under 27 minutes left in the first half. The Warriors continued to protect the net with several saves by Kaeleigh McDaniel, but the Trojans were able to put two more goals in to take a 5-0 lead. Mount Olive continued to push ahead to make it running clock with just over twelve minutes left. The Trojans would lead 14-0 at the half.
The Trojans continued the pressure in the second half as Jordan Shughrue put back-to-back goals in to take a 16-0 lead. Kaeleigh McDaniel continued to defend the cage, but the Trojans continued to pepper it with shots. Mount Olive pushed their lead on to 20-0 with over sixteen minutes remaining. Amy Pfefferkorn and Tabitha Beecher attacked for the Warriors, but their free position shot was saved by the Trojans goalkeeper. Despite being down, Southern Wesleyan continued to pressure as Pfefferkorn and Jocelyn Cosgrove made shots, however their shots could not find the cage. However the Trojans won the game 24-0.
