Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan is excited to announce Claire Keffer as the new Assistant Golf Coach.
"I couldn't be more excited to have Claire Keffer join the Golf Coaching Staff here at Southern Wesleyan," said Head Coach Joey Maxon. "She is the Program's most decorated player, has tremendous working knowledge of the game, and already has the respect of all of our players. She will be a perfect fit and have an immediate impact on both our teams."
Keffer, formerly Page, played Women's Golf for Southern Wesleyan from 2016-19. Transferring from Limestone College after her freshman season, Keffer red shirted her sophomore season. However, the red-shirt season did not slow her down as she was named to All-Conference Third Team during her junior and senior season, and then All-Conference Second Team during her final season with the Warriors. She impressed in the classroom as well as she earned the Conference Carolinas Spring Scholar Athlete of the Year Award for Women's Golf during both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. In the 2017-18 season, she was named an All-American Scholar for the WGCA.
Keffer also set several records for the Warriors Women's Golf program. In the 2017-18 she set a new school record as she became the first Women's Golfer to finish in first place as an individual during the Cherokee Valley Women's Invitational. She shot a 77 and 76 for a total round score of 153. Keffer continued to impress in her final season of eligibility as she shot a hole in one on the 16th hole in the Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship. She finished the championship in ninth place with a total three round score of 236 to earn a slot on the All-Tournament Team.
"I am excited for this next step in my career here at Southern Wesleyan," said Claire Keffer. "I enjoyed playing for the Warriors, and am looking forward to sharing my passion for golf with the next generation of golfers here at SWU."
Along with assisting the Golf program, Keffer also serves Southern Wesleyan University as the Athletics Business Coordinator.
