The Saints (8-0, 4-0 CC) led by as much as 11 points in the first half, but Southern Wesleyan cut the lead down to five at the six-minute mark of the third quarter. They had the lead down to four points with seven minutes left, but Limestone outscored the Warriors 17-11 the rest of the way to close out the game.
"I was pleased with how we competed tonight as a team against a quality opponent," said Warriors Head Coach John Davis, "We turned it over too much in key situations, along with not shooting well from the free throw line, but those are areas we can fix as a team. The passion, emotion and drive we played with is what I expect from this group. It is not a matter of if we can, it is a matter of just doing it."
Davis said, "As the season moves forward we must get strong mentally to be able to put ourselves in good situations like we did tonight."
The Warriors will travel to Hawaii next week for non-conference games against Chaminade and Truman. They play Chaminade Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and Truman Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.
