WILSON, N.C.‑ Southern Wesleyan shot 31.7 percent from the field and turned the ball over 21 times in its 80-58 loss to Barton.
Aneysa Williams led the team with ten points and also had three assists and two steals. Tomi Sanchez scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, and had two assists. Abigail Welch scored seven points, pulled in five rebounds, and had two steals.
The Bulldogs (4-3, 2-1 CC) started the game with an 11-4 run to establish an early seven point lead. They stretched their lead to 10 points with an 8-5 run. The Warriors (3-4, 1-2 CC) closed the gap to nine by the end of the first quarter with a layup by Sanchez with four seconds left in the quarter. Barton stretched out the lead to as much as 20 points in the second quarter. Southern Wesleyan was able to cut the lead down to 16 points by the end of the third quarter. The Bulldogs closed out the game by outscoring the Warriors 25-19 in the fourth quarter.
Southern Wesleyan will next play on Saturday Dec. 15 at home against Limestone College at 5:30 pm.
