Cold Shooting Dooms Warriors at North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan was held to a season-low 25.9 percent shooting in a 65-42 loss to North Greenville on Tuesday evening.

The Warriors failed to reach the 50-point mark for the second straight game as the team made just 15 of 58 from the floor. Brooke Strickland, Gabrielle Bates and Cayse Branyon each scored eight points to lead the Warriors. Strickland knocked down a pair of triples as did Bri Seda who finished with seven points.

Christiana Perkins led the team with 10 rebounds and five assists. SWU made just 6 of 12 from the free throw line while the Crusaders got to the line 23 times, making 12. Erika Cobb led NGU with 12 points in just 13 minutes.

The Warriors did score the first eight points of the contest and led 11-2 after the first five minutes. SWU took an 11-point lead with a three from Seda with 5:40 to play to put the Warriors up 22-11. The Crusaders closed the half on a 16-3 run to take a 27-25 lead into halftime.

North Greenville quickly pushed the lead into double digits in the second half by outscoring the Warriors 14-2 over the first six plus minutes. SWU scored just eight points in the first 13:35 of the second half and finished the half with just six made field goals.

The Warriors wrap up the regular season at Bob Jones on Saturday with a 5 p.m. start. SWU is scheduled to host the NCCAA South Region Tournament that will begin the second week of March.
