Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Newberry Wolves in a 17-3 final score on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors posted six hits in the loss. Jarred Jones, Tanner Glass and Devin Patrick had the lone RBIs for the Warriors. Will Pitts and Nolan Steevens both walked in the game. Eight Warriors pitched in the loss, delivering 12 strikeouts in the loss. Bryson Fowler and Daniel Singleton each recorded four strikeouts over two innings pitched.

How It Happened
Newberry took the lead early in the top of the first as they brought in five runs to lead 5-0 lead. The Wolves extended their lead with runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings to take a 13-0 lead.
Southern Wesleyan put runs on the board in the bottom sixth inning. Nolan Steevens led off with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Timo Schau. An error by the catcher allowed Steevens to advance to third base. With runners on the corners, Jarred Jones singled to right field to bring Seevens in. A single up the middle by Tanner Glass brought Schau in to put the Warriors down 17-2.
The Warriors put one more run on the board in the bottom of the ninth inning. Tyler Fuller led off with a single and advanced to second when Will Pitts walked. AJ Canine was hit by a pitch to load up the bases. With the bases loaded, Devin Patrick hit into a field's choice that brought Fuller in. Newberry won the game in a 17-3 final score.
Southern Wesleyan will resume Conference Carolinas action on March 8 and 9 as they host the Erskine Flying Fleet. They will then travel to Toccoa Falls, GA to take on the Screaming Eagles of Toccoa Falls on March 14.
