Central, S.C. – In their first annual Military Appreciation Day, the Warriors split their final two games against the Pfeiffer Falcons to win their first Conference Carolinas series of the season. They won game one in a final score of 5-4 and lost game two 7-1.
Southern Wesleyan posted seven hits in game one. John Garrett and Julio Justo both led the team with two hits each, with Garrett hitting the only double for the Warriors. DiMarkus Sanders led Southern Wesleyan with two RBIs including a sacrifice bunt. Southern Wesleyan left seven players on the base pads in the win. Josh Antwine started the game for the Warriors and went 5.1 innings while allowing four runs and eight hit while striking out three. Tyler Rio game in relief and only allowed one hit in his first win of the season. Jarrett Joyner closed the game for the Warriors to gain his first save of the year.
The Warriors posted seven hits in the game two loss. Conner Ewing led the team with two hits, and Trevor Walker had the lone RBI for Southern Wesleyan on a sacrifice fly. John Garrett recorded a sacrifice bunt. Julio Justo recorded the sole stolen base for the Warriors in game two. JJ Julian started game two and went 5.1 innings while allowing five hits, runs and strikeouts in the loss.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the first game of the March 11 double header versus the Pfeiffer Falcons. John Garrett led off for the Warriors and reach first before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Trevor Walker reached on a walk and then Jason Moldenhauer reached first base to load the bases for Julio Justo. Justo singled to bring Garrett home. Andrew Falgiano then reached on an error to bring Walker home and give the Warriors a 2-0 lead over the Falcons to end the first inning.
The Falcons countered in the top of the third inning when Zach Scudder doubled to left field to bring two runs home to tie the game at two. Both teams were scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. Scudder flew out to center field to bring Jordan Eckard home to give Pfeiffer a 3-2 lead over Southern Wesleyan. They extended their lead to two in the top of the sixth when they brought another run home to make the score 4-2.
The Warriors were not phased, rising to the challenge in the bottom of the sixth inning. Quinton Bent reached on an error and then moved to second on a single by senior Drew Carson. John Garrett doubled down the left field line to bring Bent home. DiMarkus Sanders followed with a single to center field to bring both Garrertt and Carson home to give Southern Wesleyan a 5-4 lead and win the game.
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the second game of the afternoon. John Garrett singled to the shortstop and then advanced to second on a bunt single by senior DiMarkus Sanders. Conner Ewing hit a single to third base to move both the runners up and load the bases. Trevor Walker hit a sacrifice fly to center field for the first out of the inning, but brought Garrett home to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead over the Falcons.
However, the Falcons surged ahead in the top of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead over Pfeiffer. The Warriors threatened in the bottom of the fourth inning, but could not bring their base runners home and kept the score at 3-1. In the top of the fifth, Pfeiffer took their lead to 4-1 on a passed ball and then pulled further ahead in the top of the sixth. The Falcons would end up with a 7-1 lead after a two run seventh inning.
The Warriors will travel to Young Harris to take on the Mountain Lions on March 14. They will travel to Belmont Abbey to take on the Crusaders in a three game Conference Carolinas series before returning to the Con on March 21 to take on the Truett-McConnell Bears at 6 pm.
