High Point, N.C. – Conference Carolinas is pleased to report that 1,914 student-athletes have been named to the Presidential Honor Roll for Spring 2014. All Conference Carolinas institutions emphasize a commitment to the classroom and the idea of “Academics and Athletics Working Together.”
Southern Wesleyan - who placed 133 student-athletes on this prestigious list in the fall - added 111 more during the spring campaign. Women’s track and field led all programs for the Warriors with 16 selections while baseball led the men's programs with 14. All programs had at least three student-athletes make the list with eight placing at least nine on the list and five reaching double digits.
Each semester this recognition is given to student-athletes who achieve a grade point average of 3.2 of higher on the 4-point scale. All student-athletes, including underclassmen, transfers, and those who play non-conference sports, are eligible for the recognition as long as they have participated in a sport for the semester in question.
The Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll is awarded twice each school year, recognizing the scholastic achievements of student-athletes for each semester. Spring 2015 sees Limestone College as the leader with 272 student-athletes represented. Emmanuel and Pfeiffer followed closely behind with 228 & 221 respectively. The total of 1,914 is a significant increase from the 1,401 of last spring.
