Conference Carolinas Announces Volleyball All-Conference Teams and Major Award Winners

High Point, NC – Conference Carolinas announced the All-Conference Teams and Major Award Winners for Volleyball on November 11 during the Championship Tournament Banquet hosted at Barton College.  Southern Wesleyan had three Warriors receive awards after the 2017 campaign.  Senior Paige O'Connor was named to the All-Conference First Team, while junior Katie Anderson and senior Kendall Vallancourt were named to the All-Conference Second Team.  O'Connor went on to receive the Offensive Player of the Year and is the first Volleyball player to receive a major award since the Warriors have joined Conference Carolinas.

Paige O'Connor, a senior from Ada, Michigan, was named to the All-Conference First Team and was named Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year.  The senior has posted 417 kills for the Warriors this year to lead the team.  O'Connor has been named the Conference Carolinas Volleyball Player of the Week three weeks during the 2017 campaign.  She scored her 1,000 career kill as a Warrior on October 14 when Southern Wesleyan defeated the Francis Marion Patriots 3-0.  This season, the senior has also posted 12 assists, 31 aces, 158 blocks and 43 blocks. 

Katie Anderson, a junior from Port St. Lucie, Florida, was named to the All-Conference Second Team.  The junior has started as the libero for the Warriors for most of the 2017 campaign.  She has posted 530 digs to lead the Southern Wesleyan team.  Anderson posted a season high 36 digs in the 3-1 loss to the Shorter Hawks on September 6 and has averaged 4.82 digs per set this season.  The Florida native has also posted 40 kills, 51 assists, and 20 aces.

Kendall Vallancourt, a senior from Orlando, Florida, was also named to the All-Conference Second Team.  The senior has been a strong defensive and offensive force for the Warriors during the 2017-18 year, poste 180 kills and 68 blocks during the campaign.  She posted a season high six blocks against Francis Marion and a high 13 kills against the Barton Bulldogs on September 23.  The senior Florida native has also posted 19 assists, 21 aces and 87 digs for the Warriors this season.
