HICKORY, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's tennis dropped a nonconference match on Saturday, falling to Lenoir-Rhyne 7-2.
The Warriors picked up two wins in singles action, but defaulting three wins to LR proved costly. SWU picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles on Saturday as Elizabeth Mulkey and Abbey Coker earned victories.
Mulkey defeated Jessica Rumple 6-1, 6-3 at the second position. Coker won 6-3, 6-4 over Abbi Wood at the third singles flight. The Bears were able to win both No. 1 and No. 4 singles as Lucy Stofberg defeated Samantha Powell 6-1, 6-2 and Meghan Liner defeated Kaycee Blackwell 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action LR took all three points as Dominique Bruce and Lucy Stofberg were winners over Powell and Mulkey 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Jessica Rumple and Amanda Bryan won over Coker and Blackwell at No. 2 doubles 8-4. LR won the third doubles and both five singles and six singles by default.
The Warriors will continue their six game road trip at Lees-McRae on Friday.
