Coach Morrell says…

"What a great game tonight!  The team did exactly what was asked of them, fought every second and stayed committed.  We knew it was going to be a battle, Erskine is a good team and kept the pressure on us, but I am really happy with how we handled it and closed out the game."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan and Erskine took several shots in the first fifteen minutes of play.  Ashley Romanowski and Kayla Doyle taking several shots, including one by Doyle that deflected off the post and goal keepers hands.  The Flying Fleet countered in an attempt to score, but a header by Aline Troyano to deflect the Fleet attack kept the game scoreless.  Attacking down the side, Ashley Romanowski drilled a pass to Rachel Curtis.  Curtis took the ball to the net on a shot the put the ball into the corner to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage over the Flying Fleet.

Erskine threatened in the start of the second half, but a scoop up save by Courtney McNeill prevented the Fleet from tying the game.  The Warriors lengthened their lead with fifteen minutes left on the clock.  Ashley Romanowski brought the ball down the field on a pass by Aline Troyano and drilled it around the goal keeper to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.  With six minutes remaining, the Flying Fleet put their first point in the net to come to 2-1 behind Southern Wesleyan, however their rally was too late as the Warriors won 2-1.
