Lions Keep Warriors From Pouncing

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel Lions in a 19-3 final score on Saturday evening.

Southern Wesleyan posted 10 shots and seven shots on goal in the loss to Emmanuel.  Abigail Welch led the Warriors six shots on goal and three goals in the loss to the Lions.  Beth Spence led the team with two ground balls and Welch posted two draw controls.  Kaeleigh McDaneil started in the cage for the Warriors and made seven saves during the game.  Catelyn Henry played in goal for part of the game while saving three balls.

How It Happened

The Emmanuel Lions scored first in the game, with the Warriors countered seconds later to score their own goal.  Abigail Welch scored a goal on a free position attempt to tie the Lions and Warriors at one apiece.  The Lions countered to push their lead to 4-1 on goals by Tara Larson and Megan Shortt.  Mount Olive continued to pressure, pushing their lead to 14-1 at the end of the first half.

Southern Wesleyan countered in the start of the second half on a goal by Abigail Welch.  However, the Lions countered to come to 15-2 on a goal by Tara Larson.  Welch scored the final goal of the game with just over 23 minutes left to play.  Emmanuel went on to win the game 19-3.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Barton to take on the Bulldogs on March 26.  They will then return to Child's Field on March 28 to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders.
