Two Warriors Represent Southern Wesleyan on NCCAA All-American First Team

Central, S.C. – The NCCAA announced the 2017 Softball Awards on May 26.  Southern Wesleyan Softball players Lizzie Fela and Sara Sweatt were both named to NCCAA First Team All-Americans.  Fela was placed on the team as an infielder, while Sweatt earned a spot as an outfielder.

Lizzie Fela, a senior from Akron, Ohio, lead the team with 12 home runs during the season.  Posting a .406 batting average over 45 games played, the Ohio native had 40 RBIs and scored 19 runs for Southern Wesleyan in her final season as a Warrior.  Fela posted 52 hits with 10 doubles and 17 walks.  In the 15-7 victory over Catawba, Fela posted a season high six RBIs on two home runs and four hits.

Sara Sweatt, a senior from Myrtle Beach, SC, lead the team with 27 stolen bases in her final season as a Warrior.  Posting a .487 batting average over 45 games played, Sweatt had 73 hits with two doubles, five triples and four home runs.  The senior from South Carolina also had 13 walks in the season and scored 42 runs.  Sweatt posted four games where she drove in three RBIs.

"Sara and Lizzie have put in the time and the hard work and are very deserving of this honor!" said Interim Head Softball Coach Julia Reininga.  "SWU Softball will miss them next season."
