Mount Berry, GA – Southern Wesleyan kicked off their outdoor season on February 3 as they competed in the Victor Ice-Breaker Duals hosted by Berry College in Georgia.
Track Event Highlights:
200 Meters: Jannai Maxwell took second in the Men's 200 Meters with a time of 22.03.
400 Meters: Three Warriors placed in the top ten in the men's 400 meters. Shonquez Caldwell led the team with 50.42 for second. Caldwell was followed by Dymitric Ray in fourth with a time of 50.58. Coming in 10th, Raymond Simmons finished with a time of 52.10.
800 Meters: In the 800 meters, freshman Thomas Williams took second with a time of 1:58.78.
110 Meter Hurdles: Leonard Holmes led the Warriors in the 110 Meter Hurdles. His time of 15.44 earned him a second place finish.
Field Event Highlights:
Hammer Throw: Jake Wicks took second in the men's hammer throw. He missed first by .09m as he throw a 41.60. Keauntai Robinson closely followed his teammate to take third place with a throw of 41.56m.
Javelin: In the javelin, Johnny Bogert finished in fourth with a throw of 42.31m. Bogert's throw qualified him for the Conference Championship at the end of April.
Southern Wesleyan will next compete in the 49ers Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte on March 16-17. They will then split the squad between the Bulls Invitational and the Adidas Winthrop Invitational on March 22-24.
