Warriors Fly Past Fleet In First Conference Match Of The Season

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Erskine College Flying Fleet in the first Conference Carolinas match of the season in an 8-1 final score.

"Our men's tennis team competed with class and integrity today!  We beat a good conference opponent in Erskine.  I'm extremely proud of the way they represented themselves and this university.  We have got to continue to work hard and improve each day."


How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan swept doubles action to kick off the first conference match of the season.  Urs Widow and Siggy Menzel won there's in an 8-4 final score.  The teams of Stan Grzeslo and Sam Bakker, and Daniel Bolivar and Joseph Olatunji both won their matches in 8-1 final score.

In singles action, the Warriors took five out of six.  Urs Widow won 6-3 and 6-3 in the first position.  Sam Bakker took his 6-4 and 7-6.  Stan Grzeslo, Joseph Olatunji and Ben Smith all won their sets to give the Warriors their first conference victory of the season.


What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Newberry to take on the Wolves on February 26.  They will then resume Conference Carolinas play on March 2 when they travel to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
