Seneca, SC - Southern Wesleyan's athletic teams put focus on more than athletics even when they are in season. This past week, members of the men and women's basketball team visited the Residences at Park Place in Seneca, SC to celebrate Valentine's Day with the residents. The teams danced and participated in fun games with the residents of the community.
"It is always good to see our student-athletes out in the community," said Head Women's Basketball Coach John Davis. "We speak often about serving each other, loving each other and honoring God through all of it and being able to come to The Residences today with both of our basketball team's was a great example of that. I was proud of the women and men for going and putting smiles on the faces of the people we were there to serve."
Men's Basketball coach Charles Wimphrie has taken several teams to the facility in the past but was thrilled to see how the teams served the residents. "Anytime you can bring joy to someone's life regardless of the situation, it makes their day," said Head Men's Basketball Coach, Charles Wimphrie. "To see these young athletes spend their afternoon celebrating with the residents speaks volumes about their character. This is a life changing experience that takes them far beyond the basketball court to serve others."
