How It Happened

Palm Beach Atlantic took an early lead on Monday evening on a layup by Bakari Warthen and then lengthened their lead to 4-0 on a layup by Grant Gullett.  However, the Warriors countered on a jump shot by Zalan Richards.  Free throws by Jeremy Wert allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the game 4-4.  The Sailfish regained control of game, but the Warriors countered on back-to-back shots by Richards to put them down 9-17.  A jump shot and three point shot by Javon Hunter allowed the Warriors to come to seven behind the Sailfish and make the score 16-23.  Southern Wesleyan continued to pressure back with shots by Justice McCullough and Richards to be down three points with six minutes left in the first half of the game.  The Warriors kept the game close, countering every point the Sailfish put up and at the half Southern Wesleyan was only down 39-32 to Palm Beach Atlantic at the half.

The Sailfish started strong on a layup by Grant Gullett to take their lead to 41-32.  Southern Wesleyan countered on a layup and free throw by Jalen Lowery to put the Warriors down 44-35.  Zalan Richards made a jump shot and layup to keep the Warriors close to the Sailfish.  Palm Beach Atlantic took a ten point lead over Southern Wesleyan on a three point jump shot by Dakota Zinser.  Despite the Sailfish taking a 61-41 point lead, the Warriors would not go down quietly as Justice McCullough made two free throws to allow Southern Wesleyan to lessen the distance.  Palm Beach Atlantic pushed onward on shots by Jules Jasmin and De'ondre Jackson to take a 71-44 point lead over Southern Wesleyan.  However, Jalen Lowery put up a layup to allow the Warriors to come to thirty points down and make the score 46-76.  Free throws by Jacob Smith and Bryson Williams, and a jump shot by Smith allowed the Warriors to shorten the distance to 53-85.  Williams sunk back-to-back three point jump shots to allow the Warriors to come 59-99 behind the Sailfish.  Palm Beach Atlantic won in a 102-59 final.
