Warriors Fall in Intense Game versus Trojans

Central, SC – The Warriors fell to the Anderson Trojans in a 67-50 final on Thursday evening.

Southern Wesleyan went 19-58 for a 32.8% in field goals in the loss and were 71.4% at the free throw line.  DJ Dobson led the team with 14 points.  Dobson was followed by Javon Hunter with 11 points.  Justice McCullough led the team with 15 rebounds and Zalan Richards led the team with a block.  Jalen Lowery had the loan steal and DJ Dobson led the team with three assists.

How It Happened

Anderson struck first on a three point shot by Gage Ellis, but the Warriors countered to bring to score to 3-2 on a jump shot by DJ Dobson.  A three point jump shot by Issac Ford put Southern Wesleyan down one point to Anderson and brought the score to 11-10.  A jump shot and layup by Javon Hunter allowed the Warriors to keep the game close and put SWU down 17-14 to the Trojans.  Free throws by Jeremy Wert allowed the Warriors to take the lead for the first time in the game and bring the score to 18-17.  Going into half time the Warriors were down 30-26.

The Trojans scored first in the second half, taking their lead to 32-26 on free throws by Randall Shaw.  Javon Hunter suck a three pointer to put Southern Wesleyan down 34-29.  Despite several attempted shots, Southern Wesleyan could not sink the ball and Anderson lengthened their lead to 45-29.  A tip-in by Gavin Sears allowed the Warriors to shorten the gap and take the score to 45-31.  Despite late shots by Jeremy Wert and Issac Ford, Southern Wesleyan fell 67-50.

 

What's Next

The Warriors will travel to Coker College on December to take on the Cobras at 4 p.m. They will then resume Conference Carolinas action on December 9 as they travel to Belmont Abbey to take on the Crusaders at 7:30 p.m.
