Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Bob Jones Bruins in a 76-69 final on Thursday evening.
Justice McCullough and Zalan Richards led the team with double-doubles in the loss to the Bruins. McCullough scored 15 points and made 23 rebounds, while Richards scored 11 and had 10 rebounds. Southern Wesleyan went 25-72 in field goals in the loss and were 13-21 at the free throw line. Javon Hunter led the Warriors with four assists in the loss. Three Warriors posted steals and Jalen Lowery led the team with two blocks.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the game against Bob Jones, scoring two on a tip-in by Justice McCullough. However, the Bruins quickly countered to tie the game on a jump shot by Chris Gray. The Warriors pushed onward with points by Javon Hunter and Zalan Richards. The Bruins pushed forward to tie the game at twelve on a three point shot, but a jump show by Javon Hunter allowed Southern Wesleyan to take a 14-12 lead. Southern Wesleyan pushed their lead to 22-16 on a three point shot by Kylie Blackett and then a three point shot by Jalen Lowery allowed the Warriors to lengthen their lead to 25-16. The Bruins countered, coming within two of the Warriors, but Justice McCullough made a free throw and a three point shot by Issac Ford gave the Warriors a six point lead. At the half, Southern Wesleyan was leading 36-34.
The Warriors started the second half strong on a layup by Javon Hunter to give the Warriors a 38-34 lead. Back-to-back layups by Zalan Richards allowed the Warriors to take their lead to 45-40. The Bruins countered, tying the game on free throws by Jayson Barnhart. The Bruins countered the Warriors every move, but Southern Wesleyan kept control of the game on baskets by Justice McCullough, Javon Hunter and Issac Ford. Bob Jones fought back to take a 59-58 lead on a three point jump shot by Justin Matthews. The Bruins won the game 76-69.
Southern Wesleyan will next take on the Columbia International Rams on November 18 at 6 p.m. They will then open Conference Carolinas action on November 21 as the Emmanuel Lions come to town at 7:30 p.m.
