Warriors Fall In Extra Innings To Flying Fleet

Due West, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in extra innings to Erskine in a 3-2 final on Friday afternoon.

The Warriors had three hits in the loss to the Flying Fleet.  Julio Justo hit a home run over the left field run to bring in the lone runs for the Warriors.  Conner Ewing and Trey Matthews both walked during the game.  Southern Wesleyan posted 10 strikeouts during the game.  Josh Antwine started the game for the Warriors and pitched seven innings while striking out seven and allowing one run.  Vinny Adams and Daniel Singleton both came in to pitch in relief for Southern Wesleyan.

How It Happened

In a pitchers dual, the Flying Fleet and the Warriors were unable to score until the bottom of the sixth inning when Erskine took a 1-0 lead.

Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the ninth inning.  With one out, Quinton Bent singled to center field.  Julio Justo came up to the plate and hit his fifth home run of the season over the left field wall to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead over the Flying Fleet.

Erskine tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.  The Fleet went on to win the game in the tenth inning in a 3-2 final.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will continue Conference Carolinas action on March 3 as they continue their three game series against the Erskine Flying Fleet.  They will then return to Dr. C Keith Conner Field to take on the Brevard Tornadoes on March 6 at 5 p.m.
