Coach Gillespie says…

"We had a total team effort today.  Tyler Rio gave us a quality start and our guys responded when Anderson tied the game in the 6th.  Leading the entire game, then having them tie it up and us responding in the 7th was great to see.  Really proud of the way we played in the field and our bullpen responding.  Excited to get back home this weekend for our last non-conference series."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan struck first in the top of the first inning.  John Garrett led off the inning with a double to left field.  A single by Andrew Falgiano allowed Garrett to reach third.  However, an error on the shortstop allowed Garrett to come home and score and give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, Trey Matthews doubled to left center and then advanced to third on a single through the right side by Devin Patrick.  With runners at the corners, Noah Fritz reached first on a fielder's choice that got Patrick out, however Matthews was able to cross home plate.  Anderson countered in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Several well time singles allowed the Trojans to tie the game 3-3.

The Warriors regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning.  Jesse Getford reached first base when he was hit by a pitch, and then advanced to second when Julio Justo hit a single to right field.  On a wild pitch, Getford advanced to third, but Justo was caught stealing.  Conner Ewing hit a single through the right side to bring Getford home.  A single to right center by Quinton Bent allowed Ewing to advance to second base.  Devin Patrick walked to load the bases and bring up Noah Fritz.  Fritz doubled down the left field line to bring home Patrick, Bent and Ewing and put the Warriors up 7-3.
