"Really proud of the way we approached this weekend and played the series.  At times we pitched, hit and played really well in the field.  It's always great to sweep a series.  This is a special group of guys that work hard, are dedicated and determined to make this year special."

How It Happened

Game One

Southern Wesleyan kicked off game one of the double header.  Jesse Getford led off with a double, and then advanced to third on a passed ball.  The ball got away from the Eagles catcher yet again to allow Getford to come home and score to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.  Trinity Baptist countered with a run of their own to tie the game.

Devin Patrick reaches first on a single in the top of the second inning.  With two outs, Trey Matthews doubled to left field.  The double brought Patrick home to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.

Quinton Bent doubles to kick-off the top of the fourth inning.  Devin Patrick followed with a sacrifice hit to move Bent to third base.  With Bent ninety feet from home plate, Trey Matthews hit a single through the left side to bring Bent home and increase the Warriors advantage to 3-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, Jesse Getford reached first base to kick-off the inning.  Conner Ewing hit a double to left field to allow Getford to reach third.  Izzy Martinez came in to run for Ewing.  Quinton Bent hit a double through the left side to allow both Getford and Martinez to come home to give Southern Wesleyan a 5-1 lead over Trinity Baptist.  The Eagles catcher nailed down Patrick at second when he attempted to steal, but the throw allowed Bent to come home to allow the Warriors to lengthen their lead.  Back-to-back singles by Trey Matthews and Noah Fritz put runners on first and second to bring John Garrett up to bat.  Garrett hit a single, to allow Matthews to cross home plate and put Fritz on third base.  At the end of the fifth inning, the Warriors were leading 7-1.

The Eagles Matt Carter hit two solo home runs, one in the bottom of the fifth inning and the other in the bottom of the seventh, to bring Trinity Baptist to 7-3 behind Southern Wesleyan.  The Warriors won the game 7-3.
