Brevard, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Brevard Tornados in non-Conference action on April 4 in a final of 10-0.
The Warriors posted thirteen hits in the win with Julio Justo leading the team with four hits. Four Warriors posted two hits. Steven Perez hit two doubles while Justo posted one double in the victory. Justo and John Garrett led the team in RBIs with two apiece. Christian Ketchup contributed a sacrifice fly.
Tyler Parry started the game against the Tornados. Parry went 5.2 innings and allowed three hits and striking out two while facing 22 batters. Roth Mathews and Josh Core came in to pitch in relief, allowing a combined two hits while striking out three batters. Parry picked up his second win of the season.

How It Happened
The Warriors struck first against the Tornados in the second inning of play. Quinton Bent led off with a single through the left side and then advanced to second on an error. John Garrett followed Bent with another single through the left side to bring Bent across home plate to score the first run for Southern Wesleyan. Steven Perez hit a double down the left field line to move Garrett to third and put both runners in scoring position for Christian Ketchup up to bat. Ketchup hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring Garrett home and give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.
Southern Wesleyan increased their lead in the top of the third inning. DiMarkus Sanders led off by reaching first on an error and then was brought home on a double down the left field line by Julio Justo. Alec Hrynda grounded out to advance Justo to third base and bring Quinton Bent up to bat. Bent singled through the left side to bring Justo home and give the Warriors a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Steven Perez led off with a double down the left field line and then Christian Ketchup got hit by a pitch to put two runners on and bring Jason Moldenhauer up to bat. Moldenhauer singled and then advanced to second on an error to bring Perez home. DiMarkus Sanders grounded out to shortstop to bring Ketchup home. Julio Justo then singled to center to bring Moldenhauer home to give the Warriors a 7-0 lead.
The Warriors took their lead to 10-0 in the top of the sixth inning. DiMarkus Sanders led off with a single to left field and then advanced to third on a single by Julio Justo. Conner Ewing got hit by a pitch to load up the bases for Southern Wesleyan. Justo and Sanders came home to score on a throwing error. Quinton Bent followed the error with a walk to put runners on the corners for John Garrett. Garrett singled to right center to bring Ewing home and give the Warriors a 10-0 victory over the Tornados.
The Warriors will return to the Con on April 7 and 8 to take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans in Conference Carolinas action. They will remain at home to take on Toccoa Falls on April 11 at 6 pm and the Brevard Tornados on April 12 at 6 pm.
