How It Happened
The Warriors kept North Georgia scoreless until the top of the third when Michael Bell hit a three-run home run to give the Nighthawks a three-run lead over the Warriors. North Georgia went on to score eight runs in the top of the fourth.
Southern Wesleyan threatened in the bottom of the eighth. Christian Ketchup kicked off the inning with a home run to left field. Avery Mahon, pinch hitting for Drew Carson, reached first on an error to shortstop and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Catcher Alec Hrynda walked and Mahon moved to third on a wild pitch. Despite the late rally, the Warriors were not able to move anyone else around the bases.
North Georgia countered in the top of the ninth with a triple by Connor Hoover to center field to drive in Devin Gearhart across home plate. Trevor Sams went on to single to bring Hoover around to score and giving the Nighthawks a 14-1 victory over the Warriors.
The Warriors will next travel to take on a three game series at Francis Marion. They will then return home to play Mars Hill College on Wednesday, February 15.
