Warriors Defeat Hawks, Lagroone Sets Scoring Mark

The weather outside Tysinger Gymnasium was cold and blustery on Thursday night, but inside the Southern Wesleyan men’s basketball team torched the visiting Shorter Hawks with a red-hot shooting display. Nick LaGroone led the Warrior charge with a school record 48 points, breaking the previous record of 47 held by his head coach, Charles Wimphrie. LaGroone was 16-21 from the field, including 8-12 from beyond the arc, and 8-9 from the charity stripe, and somehow found time to collect 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Southern Wesleyan guard Brandon Jankowy also displayed a deft shooting touch, going 7-10 from 3-point territory.
