Joe R. Gilbert Track and Field- 215 Clayton Street Central, SC 29630

The Joe R. Gilbert Track and Field opened in the spring of 2014.  The facility was built to house the newly added track and field programs and will eventually be home to men's and women's soccer.

The track, coated in SWU blue, is an eight-lane, 400m track complete with space for throws and jumps.  The $1.1 million dollar facility is named in honor of Joe R. Gilbert after a generous donation from the Gilbert family.

In addition to eight lanes the facility includes three pits for long and triple jump along the backstretch, two shot put areas behind turns 3 and 4 (close to Highway 93) and a throwing cage on the opposite side (close to State Road 39).  Also included in the facility is a javelin throwing area as well as high jump and pole vault areas.

Phase two of the facility will add grandstands, restrooms, press box, lights and a scoreboard.  Once completed, the men's and women's soccer teams will move from Childs Field to the inside of the track to play all home games.
