Corey Morrell Named Head Women's Soccer CoachFebruary 14, 2013
CENTRAL, S.C. - The Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) Department of Athletics is pleased to announced the hiring of Corey Morrell as the next Head Women's Soccer Coach for the Warriors. Morrell will begin his duties immediately.
"I am extremely humbled and honored to be named the new women's soccer coach at Southern Wesleyan," said Morrell. "I want to thank Chris Williams, Dr. Brockinton, and the entire athletic department for this opportunity."
Morrell most recently served as the assistant coach for the Warrior men's soccer team, helping lead the team to their best finish ever at 15-3-2 and a Top-25 NAIA National Ranking at #22 in the final postseason poll. During the season, SWU achieved their highest ever national ranking at #11. He has served as a high school soccer coach at nearby D.W. Daniel High School, and played at Anderson University, serving as team captain in 1997. Morrell scored 21 goals and had 9 assists in 34 career games at Anderson.
Following his time with the Trojans, Morrell graduated with his B.S. in Business Management in 2000 from Clemson University. He is married to Summer and they have three kids Maeve (7), Caden (3), and Xander (1).
