Baseball Collecting Toys for Country SantaNovember 25, 2013
The SWU baseball team is in the process of collecting toys for a local organization called Country Santa.
Country Santa has been helping needy families in the foothills of South Carolina since 1978. Last year the organization helped over 3200 children in the upstate area experience Christmas.
This year the Southern Wesleyan baseball program is helping Country Santa by collecting toys and money prior to Christmas and will then be assisting in bagging and distributing the toys closer to Christmas day.
The baseball program has been collecting toys for Country Santa the last five years and last year the team collected close to $1,000 in toys and monetary donations and in 2011 had ten student-athletes travel to the Country Santa Home to help place bags for distribution on Christmas Eve. The team's goal this year is to provide Country Santa with a combined toy and monetary gift collection totaling over $1,500.
If you would like to help with the Country Santa Project then please contact head coach Mike Gillespie at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the baseball office at 864-644-5304.
New toys will be collected on the campus of Southern Wesleyan until Wednesday, December 11. Drop boxes will be placed in areas on campus starting Monday, November 19. For more information on the drop boxes or how you may donate a monetary gift contact the baseball office.
